Myrna Munoz
Myrna Arely Muñoz is a lifelong educator, equity advocate, and proud daughter of migrant and farmworker communities running for Oregon State Senate District 15. For more than 25 years, Myrna has dedicated her career to building inclusive, accessible systems that affirm the dignity, language, culture, and potential of every student and family.
A bilingual and multicultural leader, Myrna has worked across classrooms, schools, districts, universities, nonprofits, and state government to strengthen education systems from preschool through postgraduate levels. Her work centers culturally responsive instruction, biliteracy, and community-driven solutions that prioritize those who have historically been underserved, including multilingual learners, migrant families, and students with diverse learning needs.
Myrna currently serves as an Education Specialist at the Oregon Department of Education, where she leads statewide support and accountability work for multilingual and migrant programs. She collaborates across agencies to ensure students’ civil rights, educational access, and linguistic assets are upheld throughout Oregon. She is also the founder and Executive Director of M&M Multilingual Equity Education Consultancy, where she supports educators and systems nationwide in building equitable, high-impact literacy and biliteracy programs.
Previously, Myrna served as a principal and assistant principal in Portland Public Schools, leading Oregon’s first all-Spanish dual immersion elementary school and advancing restorative justice, literacy outcomes, and inclusive school climates. She has taught bilingually at every elementary grade level, served as an adjunct instructor at Portland State University, and worked as a statewide and national consultant on equity-centered systems improvement.
Myrna is a proud union member and longtime advocate for educators, students, and families. She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, an equity-focused administrative license, and a bilingual teaching credential. She is also a frequent keynote speaker, conference organizer, and mentor, and has served on numerous boards advancing bilingual education, food security, and community leadership.
Running for Senate District 15, Myrna is focused on ensuring Oregon delivers on its constitutional promise to all people. She is committed to protecting civil rights, strengthening public education, expanding access to health care, and elevating the voices of working families, rural communities, and communities of color in the legislative process. Her campaign is rooted in lived experience, collaborative leadership, and the belief that when we invest in people, Oregon thrives.
